Korea University, one of the universities in the much respected SKY (Seoul National University, Korea University and Yonsei University) universities is wildly regarded as one of the most prestigious universities in Korea. Application period, interview date and admission announcement and registration period

  • Application period – August 17th ~ OCtober 12th
  • Documents submission period – August 17th ~ October 13th. All documents must be sealed and sent to:  International Admission Team,

Eligibility

  • You MUST be a foreign national and hold a non-Korean passport to be eligible to apply (to qualify as an international student)
  • Your parents MUST hold a foreign citizenship as well, with a non-Korean passport (to qualify as an international student)
  •  A Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) test certificate (optional)
  • Standized English test score, like TOEFL, for example (for applicants from non native English speaking countries) – exceptions can be made for applicants who are native speakers of Korean or English

Required documents

  • Completed application form – must include self introduction and study plan (included in the application form)
  • Copy of both applicant’s birth certification to prove nationality and that of applicant’s parents
  • Recommendation letter
  • High school profile (if available)
  • High school transcript (original)
  • Passport or any other form of national ID card
  • Bank statement (original)
  • English proficiency test result taken within the last year of application (for applicants from a non native English speaking country)
  • Ceritifcate of awards and/or scholarship won (optional)

Does Korea University offer scholarship to internatonal students? If so, what kinds? How can I apply?

Yes, Korea University offers scholarships to international students; a 50% scholarship and a 100% scholarship. Usually, an international student’s admission application is an automatic scholarship application. Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA to maintain a 50% scholarship and a 3.8 GPA to maintain a 100% scholarship. A 100% scholarship also comes with a 500,000 won ($450) monthly stipend

I'm not from an English speaking country but I speak excellent English. Will I still be required to take an English proficiency test?

Probably not. Although you may have to provide proof of that. Korea University offers exceptions to those who speak English or Korean as their first language. For more information on this, send us an email and we’ll be happy to provide answers. Alternatively, you can contact the school’s admission’s office directly.
