The war between North Korea and South Korea technically never ended. In truth, both nations are technically still at war. An agreement was reached and it was officially put on “pause”. On that faithful day, 25th of June 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea and that marked the beginner of an endless feud between North and South Korea. With tensions in the Korean peninsula almost at an all time high since the Korean war and the constant war of words between Washington and Pyongyang, we decided to ask kids how both countries can reach a peaceful solution. No threats, no fear of war, no missile tests, just peace. Here’s what they had to say:

The following are direct quotes from some of our interviews with Korean kids and none of it has been edited or changed. Translating interviews conducted in Korean  language to English and correcting grammar mistakes only where necessary in English interviews are the only changes we’ve made. The meanings, sentences or anything else has not been changed and/or manipulated in any way, shape or form.

“North Korea wants South Korea to remove[send back] US military, but that is dangerous. What if we[South Korea] remove all US military and they attack us? Too dangerous. North Korea wants US military gone but US say it’s impossible because they have to prepare in case of an attack and North says if you don’t[send back the US military], we won’t stop making missiles. It’s a never ending cycle so peace will never happen.”

Hugh

“I think North Koreans don’t like us[South Koreans]. I like to visit North Korea someday but I’m scared they will arrest and kidnap me.”

Tiffany

Julie

“I want to go to the military when I become an adult so I can fight for my country if North Korea attacks us. Trump, Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong Un should meet and talk together. We can get peace if they talk. Nobody wants to die.”
